Welcome to The Tops Guest House in the Wilderness! Due to our elevated position, The Tops is the guest house with the most beautiful view in South Africa.

The panorama created by the Indian Ocean in the front and the indigenous forest behind, places The Tops in a most magnificent position. We are about 7 minutes’ walk from the beach, the lagoon, 5 restaurants and 3 hiking trails.

Bed & Breakfast

Our B&B section consists of  4 en-suite rooms ( popular with honeymooners) which open on to private wooden balconies\decks where a delicious breakfast can be enjoyed. There is a bag lift to take your luggage to your room. All en-suite rooms have sea-views.

Having breakfast on the balcony surrounded by wonderful bird songs of the many species of birds, is a nature lover's experience. On the forest side, you can spot a bushbuck grazing peacefully.  On the ocean side, you can watch the dolphins at play and in the breeding season, the whales come right up to the shore.

Self Catering

4 s/c Studios/bachelor's flats, each one leading on to a deck through wide sliding doors offering not only a magnificent view, but, deck furniture and portable braai for a private barbeque.  You can choose to indulge in a self catered breakfast on your private balcony. Alternatively you can join us for a delicious meal at the B&B next door. 

Each studio is L-shaped and equipped with a queen-size bed and either a double sleeper couch or two single beds. A lift takes you and your luggage to your studio and you won’t need your car once it is parked because everything you might need is within walking distance.

Our situation is ideal for groups of 8 to 16 on adventure holidays, such as paragliders or hikers and we offer a large outdoor reception area for the group to barbeque in the most beautiful setting in South Africa.

Activities around Wilderness

The Tops is situated in the centre of the Garden Route:  fifteen minutes’ drive from the airport, one hour away from Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Knysna , hiking trails, canoeing, paragliding( instructors take you tandem-gliding), a game reserve displaying the Big 5 and 20 of  South Africa’s most scenic golf courses.

Pack a picnic basket and visit our 3 bird hides from where you will be able to watch the king fishers diving for fish and swallowing them right in front of you or try to land your own cob or grunter from the river on the boardwalk or on the beach. Canoe along the river to the waterfall and swim in the cool, cola-coloured water in the pools below.
